Artist's Comments

To get this picture, I locked myself into a bathroom stall, opened the window and stuck my arm out. :) Havana is such an intriguing city to me. It looks as if 70% of it went up in the late 40's/early 50's and none of it has been touched since. Not a lick of paint, not one reno. In spite of this, the city is very vibrant but only because of the living things that reside there. Gorgeous, hotly coloured plants snake all over crumbling wrecks. The citizens themselves are the heart and soul of Havana. I saw so many while I was touring that I just couldn't tear my eyes from. Each one is worthy of their own painting.
